This time, we have discovered a store with a refreshing and comfortable atmosphere. It even boasts a library style setup and café right in the store!

1日の利用者が新宿駅に次ぐ、日本第2位の大ターミナルの池袋駅。　東武百貨店や西武百貨店を始め、駅前にはサンシャインシティなど大型の商業施設が集中。　埼玉方面、練馬方面、新宿方面、東京方面など、どこに行くにもアクセスがいい上に、駅前の繁華街から15分も歩けば静かな住宅地で安い物件も多いという、若者を中心に人気のあるエリアです。
JR Ikebukuro station is the second largest terminal behind Shinjuku, with constant coming and going of commuters and shoppers. With the Tobu, Seibu departments filling out its basements, and Sunshine City with other huge business establishments lining its avenues, and trains coming in from Saitama, Nerima, Shinjuku, and Tokyo, the station is extremely accessible.
It is easy to forget that a short 15 minute walk from the business district will put you in the quiet, daily life of the suburbs that host a variety of less pricey choices. It's more the hangout for the younger generation.

そんな池袋駅前にそびえたつ9階のビル。　ぱっと見ただけでは大きな会社やデパートだと見間違えるかもしれません。　「書店」という看板を見て、びっくりするほどの大型書店なのです。1997年に開店され、色々なイベントが行われる「ジュンク堂池袋書店」様の活発な雰囲気にも惹かれちゃいました。
Right smack in front of Ikebukuro Station, the 9 story Junkudo building towers over shoppers.
At a glance, it is easily confused for a large company or department store. The signs claiming "bookstore" are like to take you by surprise, because the exterior of this looks like anything but. Since its opening in 1997, Junkudo Ikebukuro has created a pleasant and lively atmosphere, somewhat with the help of the various events it puts on.

１月にTOブックスの売れ筋ランキングを発表させていただいた、ジュンク堂池袋店様１階には、大きいレジがあります。　一階に会計がまとめられているため、各フロアの担当者様はお客様のからのお問い合わせなどに徹底対応できるようになり、お客様はじっくり全体店内を見てから気に入った物を選び、購入することが出来ます。
Near the big registers on the first floor,TO Books put on a TO Books Fair TOP 10 Ranking in January 2010. Employees are on every floor to interact with various customers and answer any potential questions that inevitably come up.

With such a charming and relaxing atmosphere, this bookstore is a real slice of paradise. And the best part about Junkudo is the way they are set up to allow customers to spend plenty of time browsing the selection and reading the books on the shelves. The bookstore even provides chairs throughout the establishment to allow their customers to sit and read the merchandise. This by far brings people in through its doors by the hundreds.
And for those who like to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee while they read, Junkudo offers a "café corner" on the 4th floor that allows you to do just that. Surrounded by the mellow aroma of the café, and relaxing in the intimate feel of the store, it isn't an exaggeration when we call it heaven.　

また、各フロアには在庫検索コンピューターが完備されており、即座にサーチができるので、非常に便利です。　そして、豊富な品揃えはジュンク堂池袋店様の強み。他書店様やインターネットなどでは見つからない書籍はこちらで発見。やはりジュンク堂池袋書店様では、検索もカンタンに希望の本をすぐ入手できます。専門書から漫画や一般の本まで、もちろんジャンルも幅広くあります。
一日では買いたい本を選びきれないほど、たっぷり満足させるすばらしい書店様です。
There are also computers located on every floor to be used as a reference and inventory system, making it exceptionally easy to get your hands quickly on whatever book you may be looking for. You'll need it as the sheer abundance of publications is one of Junkudo Ikebukuro's strongest points. It even has books that can't find on the internet. From technical books and articles to manga to general novels, there is not a lot of books or genres that this store does not have.

Junkudo Ikebukuro is open from 10A to 10P and is the perfect place for people to stop by on their way home from work. The bookstore is a short 5 minute walk from the Ikebukuro Station East Exit (Higashiguchi). The store is huge and hard to miss, so definitely swing by sometime!

1927年から長い歴史を刻まれ、日本の書店、出版社である紀伊國屋書店は新宿本店をはじめ全国主要都市に64店舗、海外26店舗を展開しております。
今回ご紹介したいのは新宿南店でございます。
When it comes to Japanese bookstores, of course the main one that comes to mind is the internationally renowned "Kinokuniya". Started in 1927, the Japanese publisher and bookstore has spread from their original main storefront in Shinjuku to over 64 locations nationally, and has also opened 26 international storefronts.
Today, we will explore Kinokuniya's "Shinjuku South" Storefront.

1996年に設立され、紀伊國屋書店さんが戦力拠点として新宿を強化するために展開した新宿南店。
高島屋新宿店オープンに伴い東急ハンズと一緒に出来た大型書店。 面積が広く、綺麗なビルなのでございます。それに紀伊國屋書店の３階と７階に高島屋本館との連絡通路があり、非常に便利です。
Built in 1996, Kinokuniya's Shinjuku South store was created as a way to strengthen their position in the market and also for the high potential for customers in that area. The huge bookstore opened simultaneously with its sister building Takashimaya/Tokyuu Hands. The building itself is both spacious and gorgeous. Furthermore, Kinokuniya offers extra convenience in the form of walkways connected directly to the neighboring Takashimaya located on both the 3rd and 7th floors of the buildings.

７階建て各フロアは品揃えがよく、書籍セレクションを幅広く扱っております。コミックファンたちが喜ぶ１階のコミックコーナーから、英語の能力アップをしたい方には興味深い６階の洋書コーナーまで...ジャンルの豊富な書店でございます。ちなみに新宿本店と違い、落ち着いた雰囲気が漂っています。
This 7 floor Kinokuniya stocks a good variety of items including a wide variety of books and publications. This store has an abundance of genres, from the Manga area for the comic fans located on the first floor, to the foreign books section on the 6th floor for those who want to work on their English. Incidentally, unlike the main Shinjuku storefront, the Southern store offers a more relaxed atmosphere than its parent store.

The layout is spacious, allowing customers to peruse the books at leisure.

新宿南店の独特な点といえば、やはり洋書と専門書の豊富さでしょう。なかなか見つからない洋書や専門書も、こちらで発見！！！
A unique characteristic of this store is its extensive foreign book section. Kinokuniya's selection of foreign books even rivals that of those offered by specialty foreign book shops.

英語に限らず、フランス語等の書籍も揃っています。言語世界に繋がる扉は、紀伊國屋書店新宿南店で皆様を待ち受けているのではないでしょうか。
This section is especially popular with foreigners, and offers books not only in English, but also in French and a plethora of different languages. The Shinjuku South storefront awaits you as a doorway to the languages of the world

世界的に有名な歌手の物語がこちらに集合！！！　世界中のファンが憧れる大ヒットバンド、ザ・ビートルズやマイクル・ジャクソン等のスト-リーをもっと知りたいなら？？
Kinokuniya also offers biographies on various world famous artists. These include such artists as "The Beatles" and "Michael Jackson."

日本漫画から少し休憩して、アメリカコミックを味わってみましょうか？
For those that want a break from manga, there is also an area for American/Foreign comics.

Tower Records
TOWER RECORDSの創始者であるラス・ソロモン（Russ Solomon）がカリフォルニア州サクラメント市の映画館TOWER THEATERの1Fにレコード専門店TOWER RECORDSを開いてから、約５０年が経ちました。日本での歴史は、1979年、レコード卸業としてスタートし、1980年には日本一号店を札幌にオープン、現在では79店舗展開しております。

Tower Records has a somewhat complex business history. It has been almost 50 years since Russ Solomon opened specialist shops in Sacramento, California. In 1979, he then made advances towards distributing records in Japan, though it wasn't until 1980 when he opened the first store in Sapporo. The stores were a hit and since then, the number of stores throughout Japan has risen to 79 in total.

渋谷のTOWER RECORDSは１９８１年に設立されました。
今回紹介するTOWER BOOKS様は池袋、新宿と並ぶ三大副都心で日本を代表する繁華街の中に位置したTOWER RECORDS渋谷店の7Fにあります。
8階建ての大きな建物で、ジャンルによってフロアが分かれていて、様々なジャンルのCDやDVDがあり、本は日本一豊富な品揃えと言えるでしょう。もちろん今回"TOWER BOOKS"を選んだ理由は洋書の豊かさ、本のセレクションの面白さです。

The Tower Records in Shibuya was founded in 1981. Like its sister stores in Ikebukuro and Shinjuku, the Shibuya branch is placed in huge shopping areas within one of the three largest urban subdistricts of Tokyo, With a myriad of items and genres including DVDs, CDs, and even books, there is something for everyone. Each floor is separated by genre.
"Tower Books" is located on the 6th floor and is primarily books and publications. Of course, the reason why we chose to showcase "Tower Books" is that the selection is interesting, and it also has a broad choice of foreign books as well.

山手線に乗ると、すぐに見つけることができます。山手線渋谷駅から歩くより、東京メトロ副都心線　渋谷駅の13番出口から地下通路へ歩いて行く方が行きやすいかもしれません。
It is very easy to find if you get to the station via the Yamanote line. For those taking the Tokyo Metro Fukutoshin Line, it is easier to take exit 13 to the underground passage.

前書きーIntroduction

ここではTOブックス一押しの本屋さんを紹介します。
定期的に更新していくことで、皆さんにもっと書店を知って、身近に感じていただければいいなと思います。　ここでは主に書籍ではなく、書店そのものの魅力をお伝えしていきます。
英語と日本語で書きます、大体、同じ事を書いてます。

In this section, we will introduce some of the recommended TO bookstores. We
will try to update this section regularly, so please enjoy looking up the
information on book shops near you. We will be focusing not on the books
themselves, but on the shops that sell them. The blog will be written in
both Japanese and English, with messages that are more or less the same.

ブックファースト- Book 1st

1996年、兵庫・川西店を1号店としてオープンして以来、「駅の書店」という枠を超えてとどまることなく成長し続けています。
各店舗では照明などにもこだわり、くつろげる快適なリラックス空間が洗練されたデザインで表現されていて、雰囲気も大切にしていることが伝わります。

Since it's first shop opened in 1994 in Nishikawa (in the Hyogo Prefecture
near Osaka), Book 1st has surpassed its original image of being a "Station
Bookstore" and has continued to grow and expand. Each shop is well lit with
indirect lighting, and each set great importance on presenting a homelike
atmosphere and relaxed spacing to greater allow customer comfort.

ブックファースト新宿　- 　Book 1st Shinjuku

大きな地図で見る

言葉でお伝えするよりも、とにかく行ってみていただきたいのが新宿店です。
新宿駅から約3分の距離で、モード学園コクーンタワーというお洒落なビルの地下にあり、新宿西口最大1,000坪、90万冊の品揃えです。
フロアーはそれぞれ独立した専門書のコーナーがわかりやすく設けられています。

(これは開店前に撮影したものなので、少し暗く感じられるかも知れませんが、実際はもっと明るいです)

As pictures speak louder than words, let's take a peek at the "Book 1st"
branch located in Shinjuku. The shop is located a short 3 minute walk from
the west exit of Shinjuku Station, on 2 lower floors of the fashionable
Cocoon Tower, With an area of 3300 square meters and more than more than
900,000 books. Each floor is dedicated to its own independently specialized
subjects and sections.

But let's take a look at the photos. (All the following pictures were
taken prior to shop opening with minimal lighting, so some of the following
pictures will be a bit dark.)

Let's begin the Tour

駅からコクーンタワーは簡単に見つけることができます、山の手線に乗ると一番早く見つけられます。駅からコクーンタワーまで歩くより
京王百貨店から出たほうがわかりやすいと思います。地下道もありますが外からのほうがわかりやすいです。

It is really easy to spot the Cocoon Tower from the station, especially if
you take the JR Yamanote line. The hard part is finding the right exit. The
fastest and least confusing way is to exit from the Keio
department store.There is also
an underground corridor leading to the tower, but let's avoid it for now.
